atypical lesions in the cervix have already grown in a tumor, that is malignant cancer. Therefore, it’s extremely important to do regular checkups, and Pap tests in order to diagnose the disease in its early stage.

Early symptoms of cervical cancer

Irregular visits to the gynecologist as well as going to the doctor when it’s too late ( or the disease is in advanced stage ) are major problems, because patients have very little chance of recovery. In most cases precancerous changes that appear at the beginning of the disease go away without treatment -spontaneously but sometimes small defects which are not healed and neglected can turn into cervical cancer. These kind of problems are easily treated if diagnosed in time, otherwise the process takes years to develop into cervical cancer. Every woman can save her own life if she does regular gynecological exams.

If there are precancerous changes, the altered epithelium is removed from the cervix with cryotherapy. Another type of therapy is cauterization ( burning of a part of the body ). After these therapies creation of healthy epithelium is expected. Moreover, cone biopsy (removal of part of the cervix with reconstruction of the remaining part) and hysterectomy ( removal of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and regional lymph nodes) can be applied. The choice of treatment depends mainly on the patient’s age and the stage of a cervical cancer. Finally, it can be suggested radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
